CMS is adding COPD to the list of conditions for readmission penalities starting Oct 1, 2014. This two-part webinar series starts with understanding the impact of COPD readmissions and the pulmonary rehabilitation component. Included in the discussion is the costs associated with unplanned readmissions, how hospitals are penalized, how pulmonary rehabilitation assists, and strategies to prevent COPD. In part two, the presenter will outline how to build a COPD Coordinated Respiratory Care Model.

Trina is the Director for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department at UC San Diego Medical Center. As a respiratory therapist, she has been working and practicing in the field of pulmonary rehabilitation for more than 30 years. She has been awarded distinguished service awards and a Master credential from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and fellowship from the American Association of Respiratory Care. She has served as a committee member and officer to state and national professional organizations for over 25 years. She has contributed to research in pulmonary rehabilitation and provided numerous training sessions for healthcare professionals.
