ATTENTION all managers! The Uniform Reporting Manual is being updated! Benjamin Franklin’s best known quote “Time is money” could not be more pertinent as the AARC seeks input from the respiratory care community regarding up-to-date time standards for both inpatient as well as outpatient procedures.

The expanded procedure categories include: pulmonary function, blood gas, echo/non-invasive cardiology, hyperbaric medicine, sleep laboratory services and for the first time, pulmonary rehabilitation services provided in both hospitals and free standing facilities. The time standards gained by this expansion may prove to be foundational to the future of respiratory care, giving our profession a more solid footing and basis for reimbursements as it ventures out from the acute care setting.

In the words of the AARC; “This tool has proven itself invaluable in determining productivity, tracking trends in the utilization of services, determining personnel requirements, and measuring demand and intensity of service.” Help set the time standards for the future of respiratory care by participating in the AARC Web-based survey. Another famed quote from Ben Franklin; “Lost time is never found again.” Take action today!
