Blood Center Technologies Solution Selected for Expertise in Validation Process
LENEXA, KS May 13, 2013 – Mediware Information Systems, Inc. announced that it has been chosen to provide blood donor and transfusion software validation services to the Department of Defense (DoD). Mediware won the award with its partner Planned Systems International (PSI).
Under the terms of this award, Mediware will provide professional services to the DoD to assist with the validation of Mediware’s blood management software products, HCLL™ and LifeTrak®. Both products were previously licensed for use by the DoD.
“We’re pleased once again to partner with PSI to assist in protecting our military service men and women and their families across the globe,” said Thomas Mann, Mediware’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “PSI’s expertise and history in dealing with government requirements and the methods involved, coupled with our expertise in validation services within our products make for a perfect fit. We’re excited to continue the expansion of our blood management technologies and products within the DoD.”
Mediware has completed more than 150 validation service engagements during the past five years. The validation services team carefully creates a plan adapted to each customer’s current processes to help ensure regulatory requirements are met when the software is installed during operation of the system.
This new award further expands Mediware’s ongoing relationship with PSI and the DoD. In late 2010, Mediware’s LifeTrak® donor software was licensed to manage and track blood donor records and blood product inventories at 28 DoD sites worldwide. The following year Mediware’s HCLL™ transfusion software was licensed for use at 68 DoD sites worldwide. Together, the two solutions will help to support the blood supply chain for the U.S. military, including donor management, blood collections, testing, distribution and transfusion.
The LifeTrak® solution is relied on by the nation’s most renowned blood centers and hospitals to reliably manage donor information and eligibility, product manufacturing and distribution processes. The solution is in use by more than 100 centers across the country.
The HCLL™ transfusion software is Mediware’s the leading transfusion management system used by more than 350 prestigious hospitals. HCLL features robust patient safety protocols, multi-site and multi-facility inventory management capabilities, and the industry’s only fully integrated remote release blood distribution system (BloodSafe).
