Mediware Launches Alternate Care Solutions Product Suite

Mediware announces the creation of a new business unit to deliver solutions to specialty care providers including home infusion, home medical equipment, nursing and specialty pharmacy

LENEXA, KS April 12, 2010Mediware Information Systems, Inc. will introduce its newest product group, Mediware Alternate Care Solutions, at the nation’s premier home infusion trade event, the National Home Infusion Association’s annual meeting being held this week in Dallas, Texas. The formation of this focused business unit will deliver innovative software products and services to alternate site or in-home healthcare providers, an area of healthcare Mediware believes will grow in the coming years. This includes home infusion, durable or home medical equipment, home health nursing, specialty pharmacies and ambulatory infusion centers.

Building on its strong reputation as a leading provider of specialized healthcare solutions, the creation of the new business unit will serve these specialized environments, combining the expert products, capabilities and professional leadership acquired by Mediware from three leading organizations over the past 15 months. The newly formed unit will target the needs of all providers within the alternate care segment.

“Our Alternate Care Solutions group is the focal point of our commitment to an important, and growing, area of healthcare,” said Thomas Mann, Mediware’s president and chief executive officer. “Similar to how we launched a dedicated unit to support the Blood Center Technologies market, our ACS team had deep experience and will focus their talents on delivering technologies and services that exceed anything in the market today.”

Mr. Mann continues, “We’re excited about the growth of this segment. Alternate care providers are on the forefront of an industry that is rapidly evolving. They need business solutions that span the breadth of their business, streamlining processes yet still providing rich clinical capabilities. Through our acquired assets, and focused investment in additional capabilities, we plan to be the market leaders in capabilities, service and customer satisfaction.”

The Mediware Alternate Care Solutions product portfolio includes:

  • HomecareNet™ targeting home infusion, durable or home medical equipment, home health nursing and hospice providers with a single platform solution for home health management.
  • Ascend™ targeting ambulatory and home infusion, specialty pharmacy and small to mid-sized inpatient facilities with powerful pharmacy management capabilities and proven interoperability with other systems.
