SeniorsPlus of Maine Selects Harmony Information Systems to Automate Medicaid Waiver Processes

Proven, On-Demand Solution will Enable SeniorsPlus to Improve Administration of Medicaid Waivers and Optimize Resources

RESTON, VA – August 17, 2010 – Harmony Information Systems, Inc. (Harmony), the leader in integrated health and human services management, announced today that SeniorsPlus of Maine (SeniorsPlus), the Area Agency on Aging for Western Maine, has selected Harmony for Aging Waivers Edition (Waivers Edition) to automate Medicaid Waiver processes.  Waivers Edition is a comprehensive case management system for agencies that provide home and community-based services funded by Medicaid Waivers, the Older Americans Act, and other block grants.

Elder Independence of Maine (EIM), a division of SeniorsPlus which coordinates in-home care services for adults 18 and older throughout the state of Maine, is replacing their antiquated, non-HIPAA compliant information system with Harmony’s off-the-shelf solution.  EIM will use Waivers Edition to manage claims processing, assessments, waiver tracking and more for Home and Community Benefits for the Elderly and Adults with Disabilities, Private Duty Nursing and Personal Care Services, and Home-Based Care programs.

“With the demand for home-based services on the rise and the upcoming changes to Maine’s Medicaid Waivers programs, we needed a way to more effectively manage the Waivers claims processes while optimizing our existing resources,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, Executive Director, SeniorsPlus.  “Harmony for Aging Waivers Edition lets us manage both Medicaid Waivers and Older American Act-funded programs in single application which makes it the perfect solution to help us to meet the demands in this new era of Medicaid programs.”

Waivers Edition is a flexible case management system optimized for waiver tracking, reporting and billing. The solution provides screening and eligibility determination using canned or custom assessment forms, allows organizations to track planned, ordered and delivered waiver services, utilize various quality measure reports and automatically bill Medicaid with the click of a button.

“We are thrilled that SeniorsPlus has selected Harmony for Aging Waivers Edition to automate and manage their Waivers services,” said Joseph Sander, President and CEO of Harmony Information Systems. “I am confident that this proven, off-the-shelf solution will enable EIM to take control of the Medicaid Waivers process while better serving the needs of a growing population of aging seniors without additional resources.”

The Harmony suite of solutions is rapidly becoming the standard for aging services organizations throughout the country.  Harmony for Aging is the most widely-used solution in the United States for home and community-based care and is relied on by the majority of states and across the national aging network.  Harmony for APS, which was introduced in 2009, is already live in three state-wide deployments.  Together, the two Harmony products make up the only fully integrated suite of off-the-shelf solutions for aging services organizations and their web-based delivery model shortens implementation times, decreases upfront capital expenses and provides anywhere, anytime access by case workers.
