Harmony Customer Survey Shows 90 Percent of Aging and Adult Protective Services Professionals Feel Prepared for Increase in Aging Population

Over 70 Percent of Respondents Fear Funding Will Not Meet Future Demand

Reston, VA. — October 4, 2010 – Harmony Information Systems Inc., the leader in integrated health and human services management, today announced the results of a survey that cited lack of funding, effective collaboration, lack of workforce talent and the ability to share data as the biggest challenges facing the industry. Despite these concerns, over 90 percent of respondents stated they feel prepared for an increase in the senior population over the next five years.

While the majority of those surveyed feel they are currently prepared for an increase in the senior population, an overwhelming 70 percent of survey respondents listed funding as their biggest concern for the future. As organizations prioritize their available resources, many are streamlining processes by leveraging technology to automate manual, time consuming tasks. This enables them to more effectively care for their customers, while reducing cost and overhead.  In addition, over 80 percent of survey respondents listed the ability to collaborate with agencies, service providers, consumers and caregivers within their program area as their biggest priority.

Conducted at the 2010 Harmony Users Conference, the survey polled professionals from aging services and Adult Protective Services organizations nationwide about the biggest issues facing aging services professionals and their organizational priorities. Participating organizations included providers and state, local and county agencies that provide long-term care and services to seniors.
